Dr. James Barnhill is a well-known, highly respected board certified cardiologist specializing in nuclear cardiology, cardiac catheterization, and echocardiography. Dr. Barnhill also provides general cardiac care for patients pre- and post-operatively, as well as healthy heart maintenance.

Dr. Barnhill attended the Georgia Institute of Technology for his undergraduate degree. He graduated from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Dr. Barnhill finished his internship at USAF Medical Center Keesler, Keesler AFB where he also completed his residency. Dr. Barnhill did his fellowship in cardiology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville Tennessee. Among his experiences, Dr. Barnhill was Chief of Cardiology, Medical Director, Coronary Care Unit Chairperson, and Critical Care Committee Medical Director at USAF Medical Center Wright – Patterson AFB in Ohio as well as Chief of Cardiology at Carswell AFB, Texas.


Dr. Barnhill is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of Gwinnett-Forsyth County Medical Society, as well as the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Barnhill is affiliated with the American Heart Association serving as an instructor in advanced cardiac life support. Dr. Barnhill is board certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine in the Subspecialty of Cardiovascular Diseases and Nuclear Cardiology.

Demir Baykal, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Baykal is a board certified cardiologist specializing in nuclear cardiology, cardiac catheterization, transesophegeal echocardiography, cardiac CT/MRI and lipid disorders.  He also provides general cardiac care pre and post operatively and for pacemaker and ICD maintenance.

Dr. Baykal attended Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical School in Turkey. After serving an externship at Grady Memorial Hospital during the last year of his medical school training, he completed his internship, residency and cardiology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. During his cardiology fellowship at Emory University he published several articles in peer reviewed journals such as Circulation, American Journal of Cardiology, and Journal of Biological Chemistry.  His post graduate experience includes a non-invasive electrophysiology fellowship at London University, St. Georges Hospital upon completion of which he returned to Atlanta to take his current position with Gwinnett Consultants in Cardiology, P.C.

Dr. Baykal was within 99th percentile in ACP in Training Examination in Internal Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1990. He is also a patent holder, inventor of lipid management software medical decision making support software) published and presented in national meetings such as NLA and NASCI. He has given multiple invited lectures locally for Gwinnett Health Systems and St. Joseph's Hospital. Dr. Baykal is board certified in general, nuclear cardiology, comprehensive echocardiography and cardiac CT. He also is a member of American Society of Echocardiography, Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), National Lipid Association, and Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CT).

Sean E. F. Delaney, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.S.C.A.I.

Dr Delaney is a Board Certified cardiologist and highly skilled cardiac procedural specialist who obtained his medical degree from The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, University of London, in England and then performed an internship year as a House Surgeon at The Lister Hospital in Stevenage, England and as a House Officer at The Royal Free Hospital in London, England. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic & Foundation in Rochester, Minnesota and then went on to complete his fellowship training in Adult Cardiology at The Texas Heart Institute at St Luke's Episcopal Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he was also Chief Interventional Cardiology Fellow.

Dr Delaney is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, is certified by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, and holds the certification Registered Vascular Specialist. He is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a fellow of the Society of Cardiac Angiographers & Interventionalists. Dr Delaney has had publications in several scientific journals and is a co-investigator of several clinical trials.

Khalid J. Hayat, M.D.


Dr. Khalid Hayat is a board certified cardiologist specializing in nuclear cardiac imaging, cardiac catheterization, and trans-esophageal echocardiography, temporary transvenous pacemaker intervention and electrophysiology. Dr. Hayat also provides general cardiac care for patients pre- and post-operatively, as well as pacemaker and healthy heart maintenance. Dr. Hayat’s area of interest is implantation of ICD and C.R.T. (Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy) as well as catheter – based ablation of various cardiac arrhythmias.

Dr. Hayat attended King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his residency at S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo, New York, where he later served as chief resident of Internal Medicine. Dr. Hayat did his fellowship in cardiology at West Virginia University. He recently finished his fellowship in Electrophysiology at the University Of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Hayat is a member of the American College of Cardiology, as well as the American College of Physicians. Dr. Hayat is also a member of the American Heart Association and the American Medical Association. Dr. Hayat is board certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiology. He has worked in the fields of Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency Medicine in the United Kingdom and the United States as well as in his home country, Pakistan.

David A. Lantz, M.D., F.A.C.C. 


Dr. David Lantz is a well-respected board certified cardiologist specializing in nuclear cardiology, cardiac catheterization, trans-esophageal echocardiography, pacemaker intervention, and invasive, non-interventional cardiology. Dr. Lantz also provides general cardiac care for patients pre- and post-operatively, as well as healthy heart and pacemaker maintenance.

Dr. Lantz attended the Georgia Institute of Technology for his undergraduate degree, earning a degree in applied physics. He graduated from Emory University School of Medicine. He trained as a resident in internal medicine at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, where he also completed his fellowship training in cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Lantz achieved the rank of Colonel DOR in the Air Force and retired from active duty in 2000.

Among his experiences, Dr. Lantz was Chief of Cardiology for the 74th Medical Group, Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General for Cardiology, Chief of Cardiology Services David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, California, and Chief of Internal Medicine at both Lakenheath USAF Hospital in England and USAF Hospital Biburg, West Germany.

Dr. Lantz is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, as well as the American College of Physicians. He is board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine in the Subspecialty of Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Lantz is the recipient of awards for Teacher of the Year and Family Practice Teacher of the Year for the Department of Medicine, David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base in California.

Dr. Lantz is a highly respected and valued part of the medical community, as he offers compassion, cardiac expertise, and a commitment to patient service and satisfaction.

Jim M. John, M.D.


We are excited about Dr. John joining our practice, he is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr. John recieved his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Wales in Cardiff, Wales. He completed his internship and residencey in Internal Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology at University of Alabama Birminigham in Birmingham, Alabama.
